Toronto. How come?!

I been thinking about this for a while and Im curious. Toronto in Canada seems to be a very interesting and vibeful city. Through the years I've noticed that there are a lot of beautiful black women from Toronto. How come?! I mean if there is one city that is noticed except for the big cities like NYC, LA, London, Paris etc, Toronto is the one. As Im researching about the city I realize "Toronto is one of the world's most diverse cities by percentage of non-native-born residents, as about 49% of the population were born outside of Canada".

Maybe thats the answer to my curiosity?! :)

I know a lot of Jamaican people live in Toronto, but that's as far as my knowledge stretches about Canada.

As a woman who is currently living in Toronto I can tell you that it truly is incredibly diverse. There are people from all over the world. Sure there are Jamaicans, but there are also Trinidadians, Vincentians, Ghanians, Nigerians, Guyanese, Bajans, Bermudians, Afro-Latinos, Kenyans, and thats leaving out a lot...not too mention thats only the "Black community". There are also Tamils, and Koreans, and Italians, and Filipinos, and many, many more.

Glad you looked us up. Nice pic of the city. We are incredibly diverse. That's true. Make sure you check out our festival too called Caribana. It's coming up on July 31, 2010.

I am Canadian and Jamaican. In the early 70's Canada opened its immigration policy to allow more immigration from the British Commonwealth countries (i.e., the English speaking islands of the West Indies). Then West Indians from other (non-English speaking) islands came to Canada. And then Africans began immigrating to Canada. There's also a large Indian/Pakistani population (not strictly speaking black, but dark-skinned). And there was also a small black 'indigenous' community who had come to Canada via the Underground Railroad as escaped slaves from the American south. So yes, you'll find lots of black and other dark-skinned people in Canada, especially in Toronto. Toronto is a world-class city to rival New York, London and Paris. You will have a great time visiting Toronto.

Andreas! Thank you! There are a lot of beautiful women of ALL ethnicities here, and a LOT of beautiful black women here. And the best part? Black women here, more than half of the time, want white men!

I know what I'm talking about! I'm a black woman from Toronto! Even the ones who don't EXCLUSIVELY date white men in Toronto, are at least open to it!
