Moses had a Black Wife
Even in Art history and in the Old testament there has been a love for the Black Woman. Though it has been "cover" down and "disappered" throughout the history.
I just love Jacob Jordaens way of portaiting black women in his art. Jordaens (1593-1678) was a dutch painter and along with his "sidekick" Rubens they really put the black people in art, in a whole new positive way.
My favorite picture is Jordaens painting of Moses and his Ethiopian wife. The picture is so striking and so unexpected. I mean that must have been a "controversial" painting back then. But I love it. It's like Moses wants us to look behind him at the person he's protecting. She has an egyptian sunhat on, but it's painted to look like a gloria.
The Bible there is one reference to Moses having an Ethiopian Wide. I guess many theologians cant stand that idea, so over the years she has "disappered". The Bible is even talkin about Moses sister and brother who where upset that Moses had an black wife. But God punished them.
I like Jordaens way of letting us know about Moses Ethiopian Wife. And that she is one of us.
So you see, there are love for the Black Woman. Even the mighty Moses had a beautiful black wife! :)
PS: Last summer there was an exhibition in Amsterdam called "Black is Beautiful: Rubens to Dumas" showed a wide-ranging selection of paintings of blacks made by Netherlandish and contemporary Dutch painters.

I for one, am not surprised though I wasn't aware of this. But let's be real considering the geographics of where all the 'biblical' goings ons took place, buying into the Hollywood and White supremacist belief that the people documented in the Bible were all lilly white, tow-heads with blue eyes is pure fantasy. Shit, not living in the damn DESERT! not to mention where these locations are in modern day. How many of them fit the description we've been sold?

Of course Moses married an Ethiopian woman . . . any man of GOD recognizes from whence they came and honor the mother of all civilization. Don't believe for a second that Moses looked like charlton heston--PLEASE believe his skin was far from pasty!!!
